Lapu-Lapu Monument depicts the hero himself Lapu-Lapu holding a shield in one hand and kampilan sword on the other hand. It’s a 20-meter bronze statue inside Mactan Shrine in Punta Engaño, Mactan Island, Cebu, Philippines. It is built in front of Magellan Marker and in honor of Datu Lapu-Lapu who was a native chieftain of the island who defeated the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan along with his soldiers in the Battle of Mactan on April 27, 1521. Lapu-Lapu then became the first Filipino hero.

Lapu-Lapu Monument
Lapu-Lapu Monument reminds bravery among Filipinos. It depicts the history of the country specifically of the island of Mactan which is one of Cebu’s historical places and attraction. Nevertheless Mactan Shrine is also a nice place to visit especially in the afternoon where you can have a beautiful view of the sunset. The grounds are very well kept and the place is well preserved. Marvel at the exquisite designs made purely from shells in the small stalls outside the shrine. You could also have great seafood meals in one of the fish restaurants nearby.
