Located in a secluded area in the Busay Mountains, Tops, as what they named it because of height is one of the best ways to see the queen city of the south. It is the best way to get a bird’s eye view of the city of Cebu, Mandaue and the island of Mactan. Both bridges connecting the island of Cebu and the island of Mactan can be seen from afar with wonderful array of bright lights during the night. Tall buildings, although not comparable to the skylines of Manila and Makati can be seen from Cebu Tops. The most noticeable are the tall Crown Regency hotel in Fuente Osmena and the Iglesia ni Cristo in Mango Avenue.

Cebu Tops

City lights start to become bright at around 6pm, which is the perfect time to go to Cebu Tops. Lovers, friends and family gather in the ‘viewing deck’ mostly an hour before night time to see the sunset and the turning on of the city lights. Tables, chairs and small cubicles for dining (and dating) can be used inside Cebu Tops.

An entrance fee of P100 per person is collected if you go inside the viewing deck. Drivers may opt to stay in the parking area without any fee. There’s also a bell believed to bring good luck and charm to the one who bangs it.

Cebu Tops is about 30 minutes from JY Square Mall in Lahug. The best option is to use your own vehicle. Just be sure to condition it so it can manage to climb the steep slopes. Hiring a taxi may be expensive at around P500-P800 (two-way) but still a good option. Another is hiring a motorcycle-for-hire but safety is a bit compromised and if you stay late you might not find another motorcycle-for-hire in this secluded place.

The Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral is one of the well-preserved old churches in the whole of Cebu. It is below the ranks of Manila Cathedral inside Intramuros in Manila but the beauty and magnificence may be far better than the other cathedrals found in the country. It is a stone-throw away from the miraculous church of Sto. Nino de Cebu, where the cross of Magellan is situated.

Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral

Many of the locals who are far from the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral continue to find the time to visit the church at least once a week and pray for peace and prosperity. Many churchgoers believed that this church possesses great power and those who seek for divine’s help will get his unconditional love.

The Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral is more awe-inspiring at night than day time. The Archbishop of Cebu spent over a million to renovate this church built in the 1800’s and combine a modern appeal to the surroundings.

Photographers spread throughout the church’s vicinity asking churchgoers to avail their photograph service at P60 per 2 copies. Adults and children alike enjoy the tree surrounded park with grotto and statue of Jesus Christ. Notable about the church is the old bell tower that housed several bells that play a tune and not only one gong.

Interior of the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral

The dramatic part of the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral is its altar that showcases the best statues of saints Pedro Calungsod and San Lorenzo Ruiz and Jesus Christ in the cross. The grandeur design with warm colors of gold and yellow makes the devotees pray to their heart’s content.

The Colon Street is the oldest street in the Philippines. In Cebuano it is known as Dalang Colon while in Tagalog it is known as Daang Colon. It is also known as Parian. It was developed by the Spanish who arrived in Cebu in 1565 headed by Conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi with their ships San Pedro, San Pablo and San Juan.

Meters away from the Colon Street are the Cebu Heritage Marker, Yap-San Diego Ancestral House and Casa Gorordo Museum. On the other side, about a 5-minute walk are the old churches of Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral and Basilica del Sto. Nino where the Magellan’s cross is hailed.

The modern Colon Street no longer has the most old, historic buildings that give someone the glimpse of his past. Someone should be blamed for not preserving this very historical place where Filipinos and Spaniards alike spent most of their time.

Colon Street

Banks, Malls, Stalls, Restaurants and a lot of modern establishments inhabited the place and congestion can be very much noticed when visiting the place. There are several old buildings though, but I don’t know if the government still have the guts to preserve those old edifices.

The Casa Gorordo Museum before it was built to a depository for collecting and displaying objects having scientific or historical or artistic value was a simple house built by Alejandro Reynes Y Rosales in the 19th. It was bought by a Spanish merchant in 1863 by the name of Juan Isidro de Gorordo, thus the name Casa Gorordo. Four generations of the Gorordo family dwell in this house including the first Filipino bishop of Cebu, Juan Gorordo, in 1910-1932.

Casa Gorordo

The house was acquired by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc (RAFI) in 1980. It was refurnished and later made as a public museum. The Casa Gorordo has been declared a National Historical Landmark in 1991 by the NHI.

It is located a stone-throw away from the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House. It is open during weekdays on regular office hours. Children and adults alike enjoy the old stuffs that can be found inside the museum as well as stay in the 2nd floor and take a glimpse of how the rich lives in the past.

The Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House is a house made of Wood and Coral Stones (locally: Bahay na Bato ug Kahoy). It is located in the corner of Lopez Jaena and Mabini Sts in the Parian district of Cebu City meters away from the awe-inspiring Cebu Heritage Monument and Casa Gorodo Museum. The Yap-Sandiego Heritage House was built in the late 17th century by some Chinese Merchants and is considered as one of the oldest existing residential houses not only in Cebu but in the whole country.

Interior of the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House

The earliest known occupants of this house are Don Juan Yap and Maria Florido Yap. The passed it to their siblings Maria, Eleuterio and Consolacion. The eldest daughter, Maria Florido Yap got married to Don Mariano Avendano Sandiego, a cabeza de Barangay of Parian in the 1880’s.

At present, the Yap-Sandiego ancestral house was handed down to a notable heritage advocate and dance maestro Val Mancao Sandiego and his wife Ofelia Zozobrado Sandiego.

The roof is made of tisa clay and the beams are made of balayong wood. Inside, one can see a wide variety of old artifacts coming from different parts of the island of Cebu. Ceramics, furniture among many other things only found from the past can be seen inside the house. One can have a glimpse of his past if he visits this wonderfully preserved ancestral house.

The Cebu Subway is the first subway in the Philippines. It is located in the South Road Properties (SPR) or also known as the South Reclamation Project owned by the City Government and not the Provincial Government of Cebu.

It is about a 2-minute drive once you’re inside this subway in Cebu. One can reach the place by a personal vehicle or taxi. No Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs) can enter the South Reclamation Project to avoid heavy traffic. The SRP is an 8-lane road from the city center going the coastal road where one can see Pier 1 which has a number of exits including Mambaling, Talisay and Minglanilla.

Cebu Subway Tunnel

The Cebu Subway project was financed by the National Government of the Philippines who borrowed a huge amount from a Japanese Firm. The engineers of the tunnel are Japanese and Filipinos and it is one of the modern Subway Tunnel in the world. It has nice lighting and security systems. One who enters the tunnel will surely be amazed of its beauty and huge pillars.

Pizza parlor in Cebu continues to emerge. There are those that are offering less prices but not so delicious and there are those who serve delicious pizza at lower prices. Thin crust pizza with white sauce is exceptionally scrumptious. Where can you find this? Only at Da Vinci’s Pizza in Cebu.

Da Vinci’s Pizza in Cebu is a homegrown Cebu-based pizza parlor that reinvented the customary tomato-based pizza. Known for its thin crust white sauce pizza does not mean that it’s all they can offer. They also have tomato sauce pizzas and premium pizzas. This means that customers have a lot of pizza flavors to choose from.

Da Vinci's Pizza Menu

Pizza Omelet

Through the years, Da Vinci’s Pizza in Cebu has grown more than just a pizza parlor. They have put up different branches in Cebu so they could reach those leaving quite distant from the city. They continue to explore their pizza flavors and have come up with the new Pizza Omelet. But while they are growing, the quality and price of their pizzas stays the same.

Roast Beef Pizza

The pizza I like most at Da Vinci’s Pizza in Cebu is their Roast Beef Pizza which is part of their premium pizzas. I just love the roasted beef blended with white sauce and double layer mozzarella cheese along with mushroom, onions, and fresh herbs and spices. Yummy!

<img class="size-full wp-image-540" title="Da Vinci's Pizza I.T. Park

All of Da Vinci’s Pizza in Cebu branches have cozy place especially the one in I.T. Park, Lahug. They have this attic like structure inside the establishment. And the chairs are unique; it’s like the chairs of the seven dwarfs in the story of Cinderella. Also staffs are very much nice and serve customers well.

Da Vinci's Cozy Place

Da Vinci’s Pizza in Cebu have branches in Gaisano Tabunok (491-8338), Osmeña Blvd (253-3893), Paseo Arcenas in Banawa (412-0005), I.T Park in Lahug (415-8881), Parkmall (420-9200), Cento in Mandaue (420-2140) and Marina Mall in Mactan ( 495-8888).

Wedding bells is just around the corner. My fiancé and I are getting married this coming February of 2010. That will be 2 months from now. Whew! Just one more seminar to attend and the documents and requirements will be over.

We were starting to look for wedding ring ideas. We wanted to make sure that our ring would be the best. Some would say the wedding ring shouldn’t over power the engagement ring’s stone and to find a wedding band that have its individuality.

Wedding Digest

In our quest to find the right wedding ring ideas, I bought a wedding digest magazine. It’s not just about wedding rings, but it’s about wedding itself and the things one must do to prepare for their much awaited moment. It does contain everything you need and wanted for the big day.

But still, we were not satisfied of the wedding ring ideas the magazine has. That’s when we decided to check out wedding rings available in the mall. With high hopes that we can then find the right wedding band for us, we went to SM City Cebu.

Karat World SM

We went to the different jewellery establishment for the different wedding ring ideas. And yes we were able to find one at Karat World. Their displays of the different wedding ring style are great and as well as other jewellerys available. Prices are reasonable and what’s nice about it, some are actually 50% off. We kept looking and the first wedding ring, is the wedding ring we chose.

Our Wedding Ring

Now we have the wedding band for our big day. I would never forget the experience we had in the quest for finding the right wedding ring ideas.

Jones Brother Pizza Co. is one of the emerging pizza parlors in Cebu. They are located at Coco Mall, Cebu City. They started months ago and the prices are affordable. Prices range from Php 68.00 to Php 98.00 depending on the flavor of the pizza. And they also have free deliveries for all their pizza. You can call them at 415-5353.

We were able to try the Hawaiian Aloha at Jones Brother Pizza Co. and it’s quite yummy. Though I’m really not satisfied with the food but I know for sure some people would love the taste. Their pizzas are ready to serve so I guess that’s the reason why I’m not into their pizza.

Have you ever played golf inside a mall before? Well Krystofle’s Golf Island offers a different kind of experience and the most unique environment while playing golf.

Krystofle’s Golf Island is tag as the first in Asia and has a different kind of ambiance when it comes to playing golf. Though it’s not really into professionally playing the game but surely the whole family will enjoy especially the kids. The playing environment is unique with all the UV lights surrounding the place which makes the place quite dim.

Krystofle's Golf Island

You might be wondering why Krystofle’s Golf Island is dim when you are playing golf. The management has a different kind of gizmo. There are three golf courses inside the island. First is an aquatic inspired golf course, then the Egyptian inspired course and lastly the pirates of the Caribbean inspired golf course. Each golf course has 3 different holes. You need to hit the balls into each holes before you proceed to the next golf course.

While playing on each of the golf course at Krystofle’s Golf Island one would be surprised by the different gimmick the management has prepared.
According to one of the staff, it depends on the controller on which object to move and the intensity in horrifying the players. But some of the objects have sensor which moves every time a person passes by.
