Cebu Butterfly Sanctuary is situated west of downtown area particularly in 20-D Macopa Street, Basak Pardo, Cebu City. The sanctuary is a place of Julian Jumalon, after whom the sanctuary is named. Entrance fee is Php 50.00 for adult and Php 25.00 for children. There will be an hour tour on the sanctuary and a lecture about the butterflies’ life cycle as well.
Cebu Butterfly Sanctuary has around 53 species of butterflies and some of these even came from Malaysia. The place is cool with different kinds of plants that serve as the food of the butterflies. It’s a beautiful place that many tourist and travelers loved to visit the place. Cebu Butterfly Sanctuary is not just a tourist attraction; it is also a learning destination. A lot of school visits the place for their educational trip.
Cebu Butterfly Sanctuary also has an art gallery which depicts the painting and artworks of Prof. Julian Jumalon. Some of the artworks are made from damaged butterfly wings.
The best time to visit Cebu Butterfly Sanctuary for viewing is in the morning and the best month would be from June to February. The sanctuary is open from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Daily. Give them a ring for bookings (032) 261-6884.
To get to Cebu Butterfly Sanctuary, you can catch a jeepney or ride a taxi. Taxi would cost around Php 100.00 to get there.
