Wedding bells is just around the corner. My fiancé and I are getting married this coming February of 2010. That will be 2 months from now. Whew! Just one more seminar to attend and the documents and requirements will be over.

We were starting to look for wedding ring ideas. We wanted to make sure that our ring would be the best. Some would say the wedding ring shouldn’t over power the engagement ring’s stone and to find a wedding band that have its individuality.

Wedding Digest

In our quest to find the right wedding ring ideas, I bought a wedding digest magazine. It’s not just about wedding rings, but it’s about wedding itself and the things one must do to prepare for their much awaited moment. It does contain everything you need and wanted for the big day.

But still, we were not satisfied of the wedding ring ideas the magazine has. That’s when we decided to check out wedding rings available in the mall. With high hopes that we can then find the right wedding band for us, we went to SM City Cebu.

Karat World SM

We went to the different jewellery establishment for the different wedding ring ideas. And yes we were able to find one at Karat World. Their displays of the different wedding ring style are great and as well as other jewellerys available. Prices are reasonable and what’s nice about it, some are actually 50% off. We kept looking and the first wedding ring, is the wedding ring we chose.

Our Wedding Ring

Now we have the wedding band for our big day. I would never forget the experience we had in the quest for finding the right wedding ring ideas.

Does Pop Com Seminar ring a bell? Couples who are planning of getting married needs to undergo this training since the certificate is needed in filing for marriage license.

Pop Com Seminar (Population Commission Seminar) aims to give couples who are planning of getting married the views and insights of marriage. They give rightful information on what to expect when one is already married and as well as give advices on what to do when certain situation arises. But the main objective of the seminar is to impart the knowledge of population control.

Speakers from Lai-lai Garden

Pop Com Seminar is handled by the local government spearheaded by the Population Control Office of the City. My fiancé and I took the seminar last November 19, 2009 in Iligan City. None of us really knows what will happen on the said seminar. Before you undergo the seminar, one has to answer some questions relating to money, family, handling children and sex.

Speaker from the Chruch

Pop Com Seminar started at 8:00 in the morning with a prayer. Different speakers were around to give all the bits of information about marriage. There were people from DSWD, NSO, City Health, and people from the church. There were also people from different wedding organization to give some advices and the wedding services they offer. The talks are not boring at all. Speakers are good and have been conducting this kind of seminar for how many years already. So they know how to catch the audiences’ attention. They’ve also explained one by one the items found on the questionnaires they’ve asked to fill out.

Name Tags

Pop Com Seminar sure does give insight about marriage. Marriage therefore is never easy and it’s a lifetime process of learning and adjustment with your spouse and the people around you. Though it’s never easy, a lot of people still engage in marriage for love and in order to create their own family.

Using my Wheiz Gear Safety Helmet in travelling around Cebu City looking for Historical Places Attraction is a must. Wearing a safety helmet has all the advantages in avoiding further damage when you get into a motorcycle accident. My Wheiz Gear Safety Helmet was bought by my girlfriend at Reliance Motors in SM City Cebu at P2,500 and is very much worth it for its comfort and style.

Wheiz Gear Helmet Side View

The back view of the helmet is like a warrior wearing a headgear, ready to fight any battle it encounters.

Wheiz Gear Helmet Back View

What I love about this helmet is that it is DOT (Department Of Transportation – US) approved which means it has passed the quality standard for motorcycle helmets.

Wheiz Gear DOT Label

Other things to consider when buying a helmet are:

1. The helmet should be visible enough to other drivers to avoid getting hit accidentally.

2. Proper lock to avoid getting the helmet out of your head when an accident comes along your way.

3. Proper dust cover for facial openings (eyes, nose, mouth, ears).

4. Proper shade against the sunlight.

5. Proper chin support

6. Choose the correct helmet size that fits your head. Some people chose the bigger helmets because it is comfortable, but when it comes to accidental impacts, it supports lesser compared to perfectly fit helmets.

7. Be sure the helmet has proper air ventilation.

The best part of my helmet is its front design and color. The chin support is perfect, the air ventilation is all over the helmet, the foam inside is perfect and the color is very visible during daytime and nighttime.

Since this helmet was bought, I always get comments from other riders and relatives that I really value safety.

Wheiz Gear Safety Helmet

Wearing my Wheiz Gear Helmet during Night Time

After a week my Wheiz Gear Safety Helmet was bought, I was still having dust problems that enters my eyes, so to avoid that problem and for additional safety, I bought a Motorcycle Goggles at P400 in Gaisano South during their quarterly sale.

Motorcycle Goggles

One Sunday afternoon, my fiancé and I have got nothing to do. So we decided to stroll around SM so we can have a glimpse on the different souvenirs that we can give to our guests on our wedding. We also plan to buy clothes that we could wear during our pre-nuptial pictorial.

When we got to the mall, there are a few shoppers since its All Saints Day and most of the people in Cebu are in the cemetery, visiting their families who already passed away.

We first went to SM Department Store and look for the suitable clothes but couldn’t find any. We then found ourselves entering the different shops in SM hoping to find any. But then again we cannot find the one that suits us.

We then decided to look for souvenirs instead of the clothes. We found a lot of potential ones but there are just the same old wedding souvenirs. We wanted to have a unique wedding souvenir for our guests at a reasonable price but we cannot find any as well.

Lasagna with Ice Cold Drinks

Strolling around the mall feeling hungry, we then found ourselves inside Greenwhich Pizza. We decided to treat ourselves and have some pizza with lasagna. We had serious talks about the plans for our upcoming wedding and decided who’s going to be on our guest list.

Pizza

After we ate pizza, we decided to go grocery shopping. We bought foods that will last until the 15th of November which is the next salary payout. We are currently on budget for all our expenses as we are saving for our wedding. It’s good that as early as now we are practicing this kind of stuff.

On the way home still inside SM, a lady gave us a brochure for housing loans. But it’s too expensive as of now. My fiancé and I looked at each other and smiled. Our next big project: a home for our family.

Last week I was asked by a good friend, by the name of Mr. Tony Araneta, the owner of Green Earth Travel and Tours, to share an Inspiration Talk with the AMA Computer College of Tacloban and Bacolod which held their Educational Tour here in Cebu. The Inspirational Talk was held yesterday at Century Plaza Hotel, Juana Osmena Avenue, Cebu City and I met two awesome Freelance Tour Guides by the name of Grace Melendres and Michael.

Century Plaza Hotel

I arrived at 8 in the morning at the conference room of Century Plaza Hotel and Grace accommodated me by giving me a delicious breakfast with coffee. At 8:30am, she started to gather all the AMA Computer College Student’s to start the program. Grace went on stage and introduced me to the students. I thought she’s gonna summarize my pre-summarized resume’ but she didn’t. She gave them all my information. She then called me on-stage and the students applauded. (Grace, thanks again!!!)

Now is my time to shine. It’s not my first time on stage and not my first time to give an Inspirational Talk. But it was my first time to share everything about my achievements and experiences. I don’t want to sound too arrogant or boastful, I don’t want them to think that I’m saying too much. All I really want is to share, what is me, who I am, and my achievements because of my family, friends, and my creator who helped me.

Below is my Inspirational Talk to the AMA 3rd year and 4th year College Students of Tacloban and Bacolod.

Inspirational Talk at Century Plaza Hotel

During my talk, the students were very attentive. When I finished my Inspirational Talk, they applauded and several people asked some questions.

At the end of the day, I feel very happy that I have inspired close to 100 students and may they be able to share what they have learned from my experiences.

I was invited by Green Earth Travel and Tours to do an Inspirational Talk to the AMA Computer College of Bacolod and Tacloban, these are ECE, CompE, IT, and CompSci Students. Below is my Inspiration Talk…

Hello Everyone,

Good morning!!!

It is my pleasure to be here in front of you to share my experiences and achievements as an IT and Web Specialist.

I was a graduate of BS in Technical Education major in Industrial Electronics but I’m very happy and not only contented but very blessed of what I am now. Let me tell you a short story of my past jobs. Before I graduated college I went to work with Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) as a service crew and was happily getting 2k a month, together with the small “baon (money)” from my parents. I can then buy my own clothes, stuffs, and drink a lot of beer together with my college “barkadas (friends)”.

In my senior year in College, I had two OJT’s, my first was in CTS-C as an Electronics Instructor and my second was in Celestica Philippines (formerly NEC) as a CAD Draftsman. With all the efforts I exerted towards work, I was absorbed as an employee of the Company and became a Design Engineering Support. Months after I became a regular employee, I was transferred to the Component Engineering group but still ranked as a Support. More than a year passed and I thought it would be time to venture another kind of electronics related job. I applied in CEMS a subcontractor of Coca Cola and luckily was given a job offer. So I passed my resignation letter and was shocked that my boss did not accept it. In the afternoon of that day, I was given a promotion and I was first to become a Procurement Engineer when I’m not an engineering student or graduate.

The Procurement Engineering is a group of High Caliber ECE’s, graduates from Class A schools and all of them have distinctions, Magna, Suma, name it…. Since for me, the Procurement Engineering Team is the best in the company, I tried to achieve to be the best in the group, and I did it. I was then the “jack of all trades“, the “go to guy“, and the “mr know it all“. I was able to help a lot of designers, buyers, planners, customers and managers. From a bunch of High Caliber Engineers, I stood out.

Last year when I noticed that the electronics industry was going down, I applied to a lot of different industries. In Fairchild as machine technician, in Keppel Shipyard as Ship Designer, in General Milling as Production Engineer, and several others. Half of them gave me a job offer.

Since I got a lot of job offers, I was very confused where to go. So I stopped working. I gave myself a break. Sabi pa ni Robin Padilla sa kanyang commercial (According to Robin Padilla in his commercial), “Lahat tayo, kailangan lang nang break (All of us, only needs a break)”….

When I was jobless, I thought to myself, why not venture the world of computers. So I went to TESDA to study computer troubleshooting for a month. Then I applied in Informatics Computer School even with doubts whether I could make it or not. With all my achievements and perseverance in my previous work, I was accepted as a Management Trainee of the school. Simply because of the fact that I am a result oriented person.

Since I was an education graduate, they gave me subjects to handle. I was the instructor of MS Access, HTML, and some Business related subjects. I was not equipped when they gave me the subjects, it’s like saying “Una lang ko ug isa ka page sa mga students (I’m one page ahead of my students)”. But based on the student feedback and reports I scored the 3rd best among all teachers and slowly got the

Top rank later on, I stood out. In Informatics, I was tasked to do a lot of things and was able to cope with it because I know I can.

Friends were always there for me whenever I need them. I got a free one hour lesson in Photoshop from another teacher, a two hour lesson in Flash Animation from a student in exchange for an hour lesson in PC troubleshooting and a lot more. I love talking to a lot of people. Their ideas are things that helped me achieve a lot of things and become a better person.

One person from Siquijor noticed the banner in Informatics that I’m giving free training on Photoshop, Flash and Web Design at school, so she asked me if I could edit princesabulakna.com and was happy to do it for 1000 pesos. And I did it in 5hours. The next month, she asked me to edit siquijor.gov.ph website and got 6k for my flash animation, photoshop edits, and some HTML.

Another person went to Informatics to look for a computer technician to maintain their Internet Cafe and I was happy to do it for 2k per month, and will only visit the Cafe when there’s a damaged PC.

And I thought all of this is big money in a very easy job. All you need is study and learn… And of course, persevere.

I looked for a Web Design job at cebuclassifieds and got it. It was for Project Manager in a French E-commerce Website Company.

With all my previous achievements and as a results-oriented person, I got the job. My 5digit salary in informatics was doubled. The Language they’re using is PHP and integrates Paypal to the site. In less than two weeks, I was able to make my first PHP site. The next time I made another E-commerce site, it took me 3 days, until it came to a point that it took only 5 hours to make a 7 page e-commerce site which still looks professional.

After 3 months working with them, I was pirated and given a higher offer by TheRightClickDesign.com a sister company of MTC Academy and MT-STAT.com as a Website Manager. This is my current stable job and I’m very happy with it.

While working with TRCD, I was asked by Informatics to be a part-time teacher. I handled Computer Hardware Servicing and Web Development, getting close to $4 an hour.

I was also referred by a friend to an Irish Web Development company and I work for them as a Freelance Web Developer getting projects as high as P120K which can be finished in a months’ time.

And I currently have 4 self-owned websites which is gaining a decent income from Advertisements. (pacific-cebu.com, w3downloads.com, onsavingtips.com, cotto-vs-pacquiao.com)

With everything I have now, I would say “I could not ask for more”, I’m really blessed and thanked my creator for everything everyday.

In the ICT industry, I’m close to getting a 6digit total monthly income right now. If I’d be given a chance to change something from my past, I would study a computer course and surely before I graduate from that course, I’ll be earning a lot.

Try to read about the Forbes 400 Richest Americans, and most of them are from ICT industry. Microsoft, Dell, IBM, Google, Ebay, Facebook, etc. This people have the common characteristics in most of them….. And that is “Passion and Perseverance”. When you have the both P’s in your work, you’ll become a results-oriented person. Always make it to a point that what you’re doing is for your own good. And always think “What’s best is good enough”. With ICT, you’ll be making a lot of friends not only in the physical world but also online. And trust me; you’ll be earning a lot, buying your own gadgets, house, car, etc. without the pain of earning your money in 10-20 years time.

At first I thought that earning more than what you need only exist in dreams. Right now, I realized it’s not only in dream. I’m very happy and contented with what I have years ago, but now everything seems to be a blessing… I have a complete and happy family, healthy life, and successful career and getting married soon.

I always thanked the people who have helped me in my achievements. Plus I gave them pizza, Starbucks, etc… These people are my free advertisements and gave me referrals. Because they know I’m a nice guy and can do it.

I know there are a lot of people out there who are very silent about their success and I still want to insist that most of those who are rich are in the ICT field… Before the day ends, think about your career, your family, your life…. Think about what you are going to achieve 2,5,10 years from now…. I’m 25 years old, only about 1 year in the ICT field, I’m earning a lot, have a lot of friends and very much happy with my life….

I hope you’ll make this point as your “break”. Think about it. “Study, go out there, persevere, soar high and reach forth…” -markmaranga
